A Lansing gentleman was killed a dwelling fire early Saturday on Lansing’s south side.

WINDSOR TWP — No accidents have been documented immediately after a Windsor Township fire destroyed a residence and killed two pets Saturday. 

Significant black smoke billowed from the Billwood Freeway home in Eaton County and Windsor Township firefighters could see flames when they arrived at the blaze Saturday at 10:40 a.m. Just one person was asleep within the home, but escaped following the sound of smoke detectors and the smell of hearth woke him up, in accordance to Windsor Township Emergency Services Main Phillip Miller. 

Miller said no injuries had been noted, but two pets had been killed. The house is a full loss, he reported.

The induce of the fireplace remains underneath investigation. 

Unexpected emergency responders from Benton Township, Grand Ledge, Roxand Township, Sunfield, Charlotte, Delta Township and Vermontville assisted at the scene.
