JOHANNESBURG – Arts Minister Nathi Mthethwa mentioned that the late audio icon Sibongile Khumalo reminded the region of the therapeutic electrical power of artwork.
Khumalo was laid to rest at the heroes acre of the West Park Cemetry in Johannesburg on Saturday afternoon.
Delivering the keynote address at the songstress’s funeral services at the Market place Theatre in Johannesburg in the early morning, Mthethwa mentioned: “Sibongile Khumalo was herself destined for greatness. She grew up in a house of consciousness, black id, and the quest for liberation in which her own outlook as a pan-Africanist was nurtured by excellent stalwarts of our region.”
The minister said the award-profitable icon was a pioneer and contributed immensely to South Africa’s jazz and opera business.
“As a country, we thank Dr Sibongile Khumalo for currently being the jewel on the crown of the heritage of this land. We thank her for using our skills as a individuals to the world-wide phase. We thank her for her golden heart and her magical voice.”
Khumalo contributed to South Africa’s jazz and opera sector with music this sort of as Thula Mama, Sabela and Yakhalinkomo.

Earlier her brother Lindumuzi Mngoma explained the singer had not been effectively for some time just before her passing last 7 days.
