Household Democrats are providing their Republican colleagues an ultimatum on controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, enabling them 72 hours to choose motion on stripping her committee assignments before they do so, Politico claimed Monday.

Greene, a Republican from Georgia’s 14th District, has roile colleagues on the two sides of the aisle by overtly embracing perilous conspiracy theories and refusing to properly dress in a facial area mask all around other users. On Friday, Democratic Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri announced she was moving offices out of the Longworth setting up to get absent from Greene immediately after she claimed Greene and her workers harassed her in a hallway. 

While Home Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy stated he programs to have “a dialogue” with Greene, he is expressed no sign that he’ll materially punish her.

Politico stated that if Republican leaders refuse to choose motion inside 72 hours, Democrats are prepared to deliver motions in both the Principles Committee and to the Dwelling flooring to strip Greene of her assignments on the Residence Committee on Education and Labor and the Home Spending budget Committee. 

Punchbowl Information noted on Monday afternoon that the Home Procedures Committee is set to start off the method of removing Greene from the Instruction and Labor Committee on Wednesday. 

Democratic lawmakers aren’t ruling out even further repercussions over and above that, with some also planning motions to censure and even expel Greene, Politico noted.

In the 116th Congress, removing of committee assignments was employed as a punishment for former GOP Rep. Steve King who manufactured racist and xenophobic remarks for yrs, and two Republican users, and Reps. Chris Collins and Duncan Hunter, who ended up indicted on federal costs. The two resigned from Congress immediately after pleading guilty to federal crimes and have been later on pardoned by former President Donald Trump.
