Kathmandu, Feb. 4 — Kathmandu Triennale 2077, Nepal’s premier international platform for world-wide up to date arts, has declared the new dates for the fourth edition of the pageant to be held later this year.
Organised by Siddhartha Arts Foundation (SAF), Kathmandu Triennale will now take location from Oct 27 – November 27, 2021.
It was previously scheduled for December 2020 but postponed owing to the pandemic predicament.
In accordance to the organiser, as an acknowledgement to the Triennale’s deep rooting in the art and viewpoints of Nepal, as well as of the several temporal displacements the Covid-19 pandemic has introduced, the Triennale has made the decision to mark its up coming edition as Kathmandu Triennale 2077 – the present-day calendar year of the Nepali calendar.
Creative Director Cosmin Costinas (Government Director and Curator of Para Website, Hong Kong) mentioned, “We are principally searching for proper approaches to acknowledge and show the multiplicity of artwork histories and languages, as effectively as their reflection of plural techniques of dreaming, symbolizing, measuring, and mapping the globe, in its health-related, social, technological, and cosmic dimensions.”
Co curators Sheelasha Rajbhandari and Hit Person Gurung reported, “Challenges linked to migration and displacement, unique and collective trauma and healing, the entire body, sexuality, and feminist praxis will also be at the main of the Triennale, with a powerful anchoring in discussions that have educated the Nepali political and community sphere adhering to its re-establishment as a multi-ethnic republic practically two decades in the past.”
Accounting for the multilevel effect of the ongoing pandemic upon Nepal and the relaxation of the entire world, the curatorial staff stated that it will unavoidably tell the standpoint on all these subject areas, both of those in the exhibition and the educational and general public programmes, adapted to the new realities and unfolding throughout several culturally and traditionally significant venues in Kathmandu.
Siddhartha Arts Foundation introduced that they have shaped a partnership with the Nepal Ministry of Society, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, to jointly organise and current Kathmandu Triennale 2077.
The festival was started by SAF Founder and Director Sangeeta Thapa in 2009.
